The ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) program provides an opportunity for professionals in the arboriculture industry to expand their knowledge through education and training in the fundamentals of tree risk assessment. This qualification promotes the safety of people and property by providing a standardized and systematic process for assessing tree risk. The results of a tree risk assessment can provide tree owners and risk managers with the information to make informed decisions to enhance tree benefits, health, and longevity.

PAYMENT & REGISTRATION FEE

You must pay by credit card to register online. Credit cards are charged at the time of registration.

  • If you are a PNW Chapter member - sign into your account to receive the Member Registration fee of $735.33
  • If you are not a PNW Chapter member - but are an ISA Only member -Please contact PNW at 503-874-8263 to receive a discount code for your registration fee of $735.33
  • If you are not a PNW Chapter or an ISA member - your registration fee will be $862.07

Registrations cannot be transferred to another individual after the course deadline. 

If you register and find that you cannot attend the workshop - your registration can be moved to a future in-person workshop, space permitting. If PNW-ISA is notified PRIOR to the registration deadline, additional fees may be waived. If PNW-ISA is informed that you cannot attend AFTER the registration deadline, you will be charged additional fees due to guarantees required for the venue, catering and workshop materials, if applicable. PNW-ISA will invoice you for additional expenses before you can be moved into a new workshop and those additional expenses must be paid in full before the new registration can be finalized. 

 

Course Information

The course includes Tree Biology and Mechanics, Tree Inspection and Assessment, Data Analysis and Risk Categorization, and Risk Reporting. The Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) Course prepares the participant to take the TRAQ assessment to become ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified.

The qualification consists of a 2-day educational course followed by a ½ day assessment that includes both a written and field component. It is required that you attend the course and successfully complete the assessment in order to receive this qualification.

By applying to participate in a TRAQ event, you are agreeing to the terms, conditions, and policies outlined in the Tree Risk Assessment Qualification Application Guide. Please review this document before applying for an event.

 

Prerequisites

To be eligible to earn a Tree Risk Assessment Qualification you must hold or have held one of the following prerequisites. For non-ISA credentials, you will be asked to please submit a copy of a certificate, credential identification card, diploma, or similar documentation. Documentation can be emailed to info@pnwisa.org.

  • ISA Board Certified Master Arborist®
  • EAC — European Tree Worker
  • EAC — European Tree Technician
  • Fachagrarwirt Baumpflege
  • AHC30810 Certificate III in Arboriculture (Australia)
  • New Zealand National Certificate in Horticulture (Arboriculture) (Level 4)
  • United Kingdom Qualifications and Credit Framework Level 2 Certificate or Diploma in Arboriculture
  • Manitoba Arborist Training and Licensing Program
  • Connecticut Arborist License
  • Louisiana Arborist License
  • Maryland Tree Expert
  • Massachusetts Certified Arborist
  • Rhode Island Arborist License
  • New Jersey Certified Tree Expert
  • New Hampshire Arborists Association Certified Arborist
  • Society of American Foresters Certified Forester
  • ASCA Registered Consulting Arborist (RCA) status
  • A degree in arboriculture, urban forestry, traditional forestry, or horticulture that is part of a national qualifications framework or is from a college or university that is accredited or recognized under a system that is substantially similar to accreditation.

RETAKE EXAM INFORMATION

This registration is to apply to attend a Tree Risk Assessment Qualification Course and Assessment. If you need to apply for a TRAQ exam retake only, please contact ISA at qual@isa-arbor.com or call +1-678-367-0981

 

Special Accommodations Requests

Confirmation Packet

You will receive a confirmation packet with a letter containing the date and time of the course and the name of the appropriate contact person. Confirmation packets are shipped three weeks prior to the date the course begins.

Confirmation packets will be shipped using UPS to the address provided on the personal information registration page. Please provide a physical shipping address.

 

What to Bring to Exam

    • A government-issued photo identification card, such as a driver's license, passport, or military ID  (ID must match the name used to register for the TRAQ workshop.)
    • Tree Risk Assessment Manual (included in your confirmation packet)
    • Tree Risk Assessment Qualification Workbook (included in your confirmation packet); the workbook is required to complete the course
    • Hard hat
    • High visibility vest, coat, or other hi-vis attire
    • Appropriate attire and footwear for both indoor and outdoor activities
    • Clipboard or hard surface to write on outdoors
    • Writing utensil(s), including at least one #2 pencil
