PNW-ISA Education Plan

Our last formal Education Plan was done in early 2007 and since then we have been busy and aggressive in furthering the education demands of the Chapter.  Understand the education needs of Chapter is not a given and we are currently putting together a member survey to address this as well as other aspects of the Chapter.

The Annual Training Conference in fall continues to be a big part of our education plan and in the spring of 2011 committed and contracted a conference organizer, Ann Bates, to continue building the event.

Offering Courses and Workshops in a very large region has been a labor of joy.  We have initiated the REC, Regional Education Coordinator, programs to make offering education chapter wise feasible.  Keeping track of this really started to take time to manage and in the spring of 2011 we contracted Chris Pfeiffer as the REC Coordinator.  We are also working with a few organizations to be able to provide On-Line Education Courses.

TRACE, Certified Tree Risk Assessor Program,  is a great program and a wonderful addition to our education offerings.  We are currently in the process of transferring a form of our program to ISA.  Until this is complete we are still offering this Coarse.

We are working on and hope develop a new program that will be a benefit to all arborist from the owner to the grounds man covering the guidelines for all arboriculture.  More to follow.....

The TCC, Tree Climbing Championship, is one of my favorite and best learning tools.  Spectators watching and seeing what and how cutting edge climbers are doing gets many in the trade thinking.  The climber sharing gear set ups and climbing techniques is great education.  Did you know the aerial rescue event in a competition meets the annual aerial rescue training requirements.

Linden Mead our Member services Director is working very hard on getting the entire web page updated.  I am excited as this will greatly help tie together the entire Education benefits of the Chapter and will include REC list, links to  TCC, Certification, CEU's, etc....
